One reality TV show that I really liked was American Inventor. I caught the final bit of season one in 2006 and I was hooked. Season 2 was more practical, I believe, as there were quite a few ridiculous inventions in the first season.

What I like about the show is the passion and level of dedication these people have. Even if their invention is totally ridiculous and absurd and unusable, they believe with all their heart that they have created something spectacular. They’ve put a lot of time and effort and some had even mortgaged their houses to fund the invention. Some of the contestant's stories are very touching, and it's hard to watch when the judges shoot down their idea. This is probably the first reality show that got me involved and had me routing for a particular contestant and when that contestant didn’t make it, it made me feel sad too. I love American Inventor and I believe that this show has the potential to expose quite a few entrepreneurs and inventors out there who would otherwise be ignored.
